About Ellipse Fabrications Ltd
Ellipse Fabrications Ltd was created in 2016 by Stuart Metcalf. He has been in this industry for over 30 years. This has enabled him to have a vast knowledge and experience of the agriculture and horticulture sectors, manufacturing bespoke innovative agricultural buildings and horticultural buildings.
Stuart has travelled the world building, designing and consulting on enormous projects in America, Canada, Russia, Iceland and China to name a few.
He also has a degree in agricultural engineering, plus he is the 4th generation of a farming family.
His motto "Designed by farmers, for farmers" is most certainly true!
Stuart has a love of designing curved roof structures and anything to do with engineering.
Ellipse Fabrications Ltd started and is evolving from South Side Farm in Barnard Castle, Co Durham. Nestled next to the River Greta.
The name Ellipse Fabrications came from the mathematical term.
An ellipse is a curve in a plane surrounding two focal points such as that the sum of the distance to the two focal points is constant for every point on the curve. As such, it is a generalisation of a circle, which is a special type of an ellipse having both focal points at the same location.
Our good work was noticed in 2017 when we were finalists in two categories of the Teesdale Business awards 2017.
We won the prestigious "Best New Business Award" and were finalists in the "Most Innovative Business" award.
The AGRI Shelter® – The New Generation of Farm Buildings
The new generation of farm buildings in the United Kingdom are AGRI Shelters®. They have been designed and manufactured by a fourth-generation farmer from County Durham. Stuart Metcalf has been in the agricultural industry for over 30 years. His skills and experience lie within design, fabrication and installation of structures and polytunnels for both the commercial and domestic sector.
As a fourth-generation farmer, Stuart has a practical working knowledge of the agricultural and horticultural sector. Combined with an agricultural engineering degree.
Stuart specialises in designs with a curved roof and has extensive experience in polytunnels, commercial garden centres and curved roof structures.
Etymology – word meaning
The word AGRI Shelter® was derived by Stuart Metcalf in 2016
It is a combination of;
Shelter – meaning – A place giving temporary protection from bad weather or danger.
Older generation farm buildings are cold dark and expensive to build and maintain.
The AGRI Shelter® is a cost-effective eco-friendly building.
The AGRI Shelter® has been designed by Ellipse Fabrications Ltd to provide an innovative and adaptable solution for a shelter and storage. The design draws on tried and tested knowledge of components in widespread use in both polytunnels and portal frame buildings.
The building has the flexibility of uses offered by a portal frame building, whilst coming in at a price more akin with a polytunnel.
We also have a sister company called Ellipse Leisure Buildings.
We offer a unique alternative to the usual glamping pod and shepherds hut style accommodation. Providing a truly bespoke service for each individual luxurious leisure building we create.
We designed and registered a unique roof design which maximises the amount of space inside the building, resulting in a more luxurious, spacious feel and relaxing experience.
Each building is hand designed and hand crafted in our manufacturing plants in Barnard Castle and Boldron. We pride ourselves on our workmanship, attention to detail and our customer service are second to none. As we do with Ellipse Fabrications Ltd
Our motos are :
"Built by farmers for farmers" and " The only limit is your imagination"
